In January 2007 the UK introduced the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations. WEEE is a new 'producer-responsibility-led' piece of legislation which aims to address the environmental impacts of end of life electrical and electronic equipment and to encourage the collection, treatment, reuse, recovery and environmentally sound disposal of such equipment. The regulations affect brand owners, importers, distributors and retailers of EEE.
Our Policy is to reduce the number of electronic gadgets that are sent to landfill sites by reselling for reuse as many of the gadgets we acquire as possible. Electronic gadgets and their batteries contain many chemicals, metals and plastics which are bad for the environment and take hundreds or thousands of years to decay if put into landfill. Re-use and recycling is the best way to help protect the environment and save natural resources.
The difference with Gadget XChange is we’re not just interested in mobile phones, we will consider any electronic gadget, e.g. digital cameras, gaming consoles, laptops, PDA’s, SAT Navs, etc…
We provide a guarantee that all gadgets will, wherever possible, be reused and on the rare occasions where we can’t then they will always be disposed of with the least possible impact on the environment.
As a business, Gadget XChange is dedicated to protecting the environment as well as the health and safety of our employees and members of the communities in which we work and live. Our commitment is to not only meet but wherever possible to exceed the statutory obligations and parameters for complying with government legislation.
We strive to eliminate pollution generated at source, to use safe substitutes where feasible, to promote and maximise reuse and to recycle materials to eliminate any adverse impact on the environment.
Gadget XChange will continue to promote and further develop industry standards for the long-term protection of our environment.
